A two year old boy who is being cared for at the Children’s Unit at Frenchay Hospital has made a special trip to John Lewis Cribbs Causeway to collect hundreds of pounds worth of Christmas presents for the ward.

Luca Cachia and his family were special guests of staff at the store and are helped to choose toys which are being donated the Hospital this Christmas.

The gifts are all being donated by staff at John Lewis and will be given as Christmas presents to patients at the Barbara Russell Children’s Unit. In total over £500 of toys are being donated.

The Barbara Russell Children’s Unit is a centre of excellence for the treatment of children’s burns, neurological conditions and orthopaedic surgery.

It cares for more than 2,000 children every year from across the South West and beyond.

Two year old Luca is currently receiving care at the unit at Frenchay Hospital and he is being helped to select presents by his younger brother and Mum and Dad.

Head of Fundraising at the hospital Trevor Reid said, “We are incredibly grateful for the support of the staff at John Lewis Cribbs Causeway once again this Christmas. The gifts they give mean a great deal to the children we are caring for.”

“We are so delighted that Luca has been invited to help in the selection of the presents at the store. It’s a really special trip for him and he will be helping choose toys for each of the children who will be at the hospital over Christmas.”
