A team of consultants from Southmead hospital are challenging their colleagues at Frenchay to find out who is the fittest and raise money for charity at the same time.
The staff from Southmead are planning a six hour ‘Quadrathon’ event to be hosted at the David Lloyd leisure centre in Westbury and are laying down the challenge to consultants at Frenchay.
The Quadrathon will involve swimming, rowing, cycling and running. The event is being held to raise funds for the Shine together charity, which supports the work of the two hospitals. It will kick start the charity’s 10.10.10 fundraising appeal, which aims to raise £10,000 on the 10th of October.
Mark Pyke anaesthetic consultant at Southmead said, “The Quadrathon is a great way to raise money for our charity at the hospitals, which does a great deal of good and supports our patients and helps buy new specialist equipment.“
“We wanted to add a fun challenge to the event, so we are going head-to-head with our Frenchay colleagues. Whichever team goes the furthest distance in six hours wins!”
Neil Rees from David Lloyd Westbury said, “We’re delighted to be hosting this event and supporting the 10.10.10 appeal. We’ll be setting aside a special area for the teams to compete and raise lots of money for the charity. May the best team win!”
