The organisers of Bristol’s prostate cancer ‘Run for the Future’ event are teaming up with Bristol based MBDA to issue a new challenge to local companies.
A new Corporate Challenge is being launched as part of the run and Bristol firms are being urged to sign up to the charity event which is now in its sixth year.
The annual 5km Prostate Cancer fun run will be held on the Downs on Sunday September 18 2011. Over the past five years the ‘Run for the Future’ event has raised nearly £200,000 for prostate cancer care and research in Bristol.
Race organiser Martina Peattie said, “Run for the Future has had great support from some companies in the past. This year we wanted to recognise their support and issue a new challenge to other firms across the city.
“We’re aiming the Corporate Challenge at all local businesses who want to do something fun to build team spirit amongst their workforce whilst, at the same time, raising awareness about prostate cancer.”
Staff from MBDA, which is based at Filton, are the first Corporate team to sign up to the event and have their eyes on one of the two new trophies which will be awarded.
Prizes will be awarded to the team which raises the most total sponsorship and to the team which raises the most sponsorship per person MBDA is a multi-national company that designs, manufactures and supports missile systems for all three branches of the Armed Forces and has a heritage in Bristol going back over 50 years.
Chris Greenway, MBDA Bristol charity team member said, “It is always a pleasure to be able to support a local charity such as the BUI Prostrate Cancer appeal, particularly when events such as the Run for the Future allow us to come together as a Company in order to raise as much money as possible. The MBDA charity team are very proud to be involved in the launch event for Run for the Future and look forward to laying down the challenge of being the best team to all the other companies in Bristol and the Southwest!”
