Rovers fans get donating
Thursday, 27 October 2011 08:57

Over £400 has been donated to Shine together, thanks to the support of Bristol Rovers FC and their fans.

A group of Rovers supporters launched a bid to get the terrace favourite 'Goodnight Irene' into the Top 40 charts earlier this year.

Although the attempt was not successful, around 1,000 downloads of the Maximum RoverDrive version was enough to see the song place in the Alternative Charts.

Over £400 raised from the event has been donated to Shine together and will help provide new equipment and enhanced care at Southmead and Frenchay hospitals.

Trevor Reid, Head of Fundraising at Shine together said, "We are so pleased to be supported by Bristol Rovers and their fans. This donation will help boost our work at the hospitals and provide care and support for hundreds of local patients. It means a great deal to get the backing of Rovers fans and the money raised will touch many local people's lives."
